Walking In Faith: Trusting God With The Big Decisions

Observing tender moments between siblings and having special time with the kids himself has been my husband's greatest reward just in the first few weeks since we decided to take a step of faith. It has been a huge relief off his shoulders to know he made the right choice. I praise God for blessing him with the ability to see it. :)

WALKING IN FAITH: Trusting God With the Big Decisions

It is my great pleasure to share the blessings and learning experiences God has been working through in our lives lately. All of our efforts have been prayerfully considered as we took a big step of faith this summer and finally mad the decision to have my husband change careers. This was such a tough choice and heavy burden for my husband as we were very fond of the job he had and the people there. It was tough to leave the security of the position and the atmosphere was so nice to work in. Still something from the Lord kept whispering to us that a job is just a job and the focus should be on God first and family second - and that is not how things were going with the long commute back and forth to his work and the long hours of work he brought home each night. We knew in our hearts it was time for a change and God kept saying, "Trust me." So with a step of faith and lots of prayer, my husband started his new career journey and our family began a new chapter in our lives together.

We were pretty confident this new job would be an ideal set up for a homeschooling family - to have "Daddy" switch to working from home, but we couldn't really see the full blessing God had in store until we had experienced this new change in action in our lives these last few weeks. It has been so dear to our hearts to witness the added joy the children have in waking up and seeing their daddy here with them in the morning or sometimes fixing them a special breakfast while mommy is taking care of the baby. My daughter has blossomed before our eyes and loves her extra snuggle time with dad every day and the opportunities to go to the park, swim, or just play a game together in between his appointments. It's just such a different atmosphere altogether - all of us took a few weeks to adjust to the change. Personally, I'm cherishing the chance to see my husband available to start holding Bible Study in Small Groups at church this semester and will adore getting to have Bible Study time heard by my children through the mouth of their father. It's such a great way to role model the importance of Bible Study and prayer to the children. They will also get to witness their mom leading prayer time during Small Groups. We were never able to do Bible Study and Small Groups as a family before this because my husband's job was so exhausting and had so many other duties in the evenings that we couldn't juggle anything else in our schedule.
The result of this new career change is opening so many doors for us now with him working from home and being available to be there for me and the kids more. We love it! The relaxed family togetherness atmosphere that has been created for dinner and family movie night or board game nights with friends in the evenings is wonderful! I guess in conclusion, I will just stress very strongly how important it is for us to seek God's will in our lives and not allow our human way of thinking to cloud our judgement and steal a blessing from us. When we walk in faith and trust in God to guide our steps as we make choices that are pleasing to Him in obedience with His Holy Word, we know we will be blessed in many different ways.

"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.  But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind." James 1:5-6

I greatly treasure each and every one of your prayers as our family went through this transition. We rejoice in the blessing from God that He has sent through each of you and your wonderful support.
Thank you so much for everything. Your patience during our time of chaos and learning how to live and work together has been greatly appreciated. We believe this renewed joy in our lives as we get to grow in God's love and spend more time together as a family will in effect - allow me to bring you deeper truths of God's Word and hopefully share the lessons we learn and grow through as a family. May our experiences become a blessing to your hearts as we share with you God's unending faithfulness to His people. We praise God today for ALL His love, patience, protection, strength, mercy and grace in our lives these last 8 weeks. May you feel God's great blessing upon your life today as well.

Please feel free to share with us in the comments below any experiences God has placed in your life this summer too. We can all grow by supporting each other and sharing in His praises. Thanks my friends. You are loved. :)

Many blessings,
Rebecca
